Biography: Dean Gournis is a co-founder and partner in the law firm of Kaplan Papadakis & Gournis, P.C. in Chicago, Illinois. His litigation practice concentrates in the defense of business professionals including lawyers, real estate brokers, mortgage brokers, architects, engineers, builders, insurance brokers, appraisers, debt collectors and auctioneers. He also represents employers in employment practices liability cases. His clients include insurance companies, third party administrators and a variety of business professionals and firms that he has represented in state and federal courts in the Midwest. He is a frequent speaker regarding professional liability insurance issues in the professional liability community. He is a member of the Professional Liability Underwriters Society and has been elected by his peers as a Rising Star for Chicago Magazine in the area of professional liability defense for the years 2009 – 2011 and as a Super Lawyer in 2012 – 2013.
